It’s a special return: Nearly 25 years after performing at Super Bowl XXXVI, Irish rock band U2 will headline another major NFL halftime show. Netflix officially announced the band on Tuesday.

The show will take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, where the Los Angeles Rams host the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday, November 25. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. ET, or 2 a.m. Central European Time on Thursday, November 26.

For the first time in league history, the NFL will hold a game on the eve of the American Thanksgiving holiday. U2’s performance is set to make the inaugural game a special occasion musically, too.

The performance comes at a special time for the band. U2 formed in Dublin in 1976 and are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.

Bono, The Edge, and their bandmates already took the stage at the Super Bowl XXXVI halftime show in February 2002. Their performance remains one of the most memorable musical acts in the history of the championship game.

Now the rock legends are returning to the NFL stage—not for the Super Bowl this time, but for the inaugural edition of a new holiday game.

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos was enthusiastic about signing the band. U2 have filled stadiums for decades because they do more than just perform: They create unforgettable moments. Netflix hopes to bring that same special atmosphere to football fans around the world.

The halftime show is being produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment, which has experience producing major music and live events.

NFL on Netflix: Thanksgiving Game and More Highlights

With U2, Netflix is continuing its run of high-profile halftime shows during NFL broadcasts. Beyoncé delivered a special performance during the 2024 Christmas game between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans.

A year later, rapper Snoop Dogg provided the musical entertainment at the Christmas game between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings.

Netflix is expanding its NFL coverage in 2026, too. The season got underway with the league’s first regular-season game in Australia, featuring the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams.

After the Thanksgiving Eve game, two more NFL matchups will be played on December 25. The Green Bay Packers will face the Chicago Bears first, followed by the Buffalo Bills against the Denver Broncos.

Another broadcast is also planned for January 9, 2027, on the final weekend of the regular season.

NFL games will be available on Netflix in more than 200 countries. Broadcasts will be offered in several languages, including German, French, Spanish, and Portuguese, as well as English.

For football fans in German-speaking countries, that means the historic Packers-Rams matchup and U2’s halftime show will be available live on Netflix on the night of November 25 into November 26.
