The Los Angeles Rams’ 16-18 loss to the Arizona Cardinals came with significant consequences. Wide receiver Davante Adams suffered a hamstring tear during Sunday’s game. Head coach Sean McVay confirmed Monday that the 33-year-old is expected to miss six to 10 weeks.
Adams was injured while running a route toward the end zone in the fourth quarter. With no apparent contact from an opponent, the receiver began limping and then left the field. He was unable to return.
NFL Network reports that a medical procedure on the affected tendon may be necessary. It remains to be seen when Adams will actually be ready to play again.
Davante Adams to miss several weeks for the Rams
The loss is a significant blow to the offense led by quarterback Matthew Stafford. Adams is one of the Rams’ most important targets and has caught 30 passes for 480 yards and four touchdowns in the first six games of the season.

His best performance so far came in Week 2 against the New York Giants, when he recorded eight receptions for 195 yards and two touchdowns.
Without Adams, Puka Nacua will be relied on even more. The receiver had already missed two games with hip and groin problems. Since returning, he has been targeted 43 times over three games.
Other options for Stafford include TuTu Atwell, Jordan Whittington and Konata Mumpfield. McVay said the Rams are also considering whether to sign another wide receiver.
The timing is especially tough: Los Angeles faces the Las Vegas Raiders next Sunday, the team Davante Adams played for from 2022 to 2024. An injury will keep him from facing his former team.
More injuries deepen the Rams’ crisis
Two other absences are even more serious. Defensive tackle Poona Ford tore his triceps against Arizona and will miss the rest of the season.
Kicker Blake Grupe is also out for the season. The 27-year-old, who was signed only recently, tore his ACL on a kickoff. The Rams will have to find another replacement at kicker.
The team is also dealing with a groin injury to defensive lineman Kobie Turner, who is expected to miss four to six weeks. Pass rusher Myles Garrett also remains unavailable following knee surgery.
That makes the Rams’ struggles on the field considerably worse. Los Angeles is a disappointing 2-4 after six weeks and sits in last place in the NFC West.
The Las Vegas Raiders are up next on Sunday, October 25. The Nevada team currently has a 3-3 record.
That leaves head coach Sean McVay with an even tougher task: the Rams need to stop their losing streak despite being without several key players.
