New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough is reportedly playing despite two broken bones in his left hand. Sources confirmed the injury to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Shough suffered it in the Week 4 Monday Night Football loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
The 27-year-old also took the field in the following game against the Minnesota Vikings, which the Saints lost 23-13. According to Schefter, Shough is not expected to miss any games. New Orleans has not publicly confirmed the injury. Shough tapes his ring and pinky fingers together for support and handed the ball off with his other hand against Minnesota.
A tough outing against Minnesota
Against the Vikings, Tyler Shough completed 16 of 25 passes for 96 yards, with no touchdowns and two interceptions. His 38.1 passer rating was the lowest of his NFL career, according to TruMedia.
After the Week 5 loss, Saints owner Gayle Benson called the team’s 1-4 start “unacceptable.” Shough said this week that he shared Benson’s frustration. At the same time, he believes New Orleans has what it takes to turn the season in the right direction.
