Die NFL kam bei ihrer Untersuchung gegen die Miami Dolphins zu dem Schluss, dass das Concussion Protocol nach dem harten Hit an Matt Moore in der Wid Card Round nicht eingehalten wurde.
Moore war nach dem Hit von Pittsburgh Steelers Linebacker Bud Dupree am Boden und musste gestützt vom Feld gebracht werden. Kehrte allerdings nur einen Spielzug später wieder auf das Feld zurück.

Die NFL überraschte alle, da man die Dolphins für dieses Vergehen nicht bestrafte. Die NFL verlautbarte lediglich, dass das Team künftig sicherstellen muss, dass das Protokol eingehalten werde.
The Miami Dolphins were notified in a letter co-signed by Dr. Hunt Batjey, Co-Chair of the NFL Head, Neck & Spine Committee and Dr. Thom Mayer, Medical Director for the NFLPA, that the NFL-NFLPA review determined that the Protocol was not strictly followed. The letter further advised the Dolphins that they must engage their staff in a full review of the Protocol and conduct additional education, if necessary. The Dolphins were also advised that any future deviation from the Protocol may result in enhanced discipline, including monetary fines assessed against the Club.
Moore, der für den verletzten Ryan Tannehill startete, spielte das Wild Card Round Game zu Ende.
