Could Jonathan Taylor be changing teams? According to ESPN reporter Stephen Holder, several teams have inquired about a potential trade for the Colts running back. At the same time, Holder reports that it remains unclear whether Indianapolis actually plans to trade players ahead of the trade deadline.

Taylor said Thursday that he had not given “any thought” to his future or the current trade rumors. The 27-year-old pointed to the Colts’ immediate task: their game against the Minnesota Vikings.

“That would be crazy right now, especially because we have a great Minnesota Vikings team in front of us,” Taylor said.

In his view, thinking about what could, should, or might happen would be “a disservice and a disrespect to my teammates and this entire organization.”

Taylor is under contract through the 2028 season. In his NFL career so far, he has rushed for 8,090 yards and scored 76 touchdowns. Since being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, he has been a mainstay of the Colts’ offense.

Taylor is putting up his usual numbers this season, too. Through six games, he has 492 rushing yards. Still, he did not want to discuss a potential move as Indianapolis prepares for its next game.

Colts Reportedly Considering Several Trade Candidates

Jonathan Taylor is not the only Indianapolis player who could draw interest from other teams. Following the firing of general manager Chris Ballard on Monday, defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and guard Quenton Nelson are also considered particularly intriguing candidates.

One factor with Buckner and Nelson is that their contracts expire after the season. That could leave the Colts weighing ahead of the trade deadline whether to get something in return for players on expiring contracts or keep them for the rest of the season.

Indianapolis is 2-4 after six games, putting the Colts behind the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are 4-2, in the AFC South. The Colts next travel to Minnesota to face the still-undefeated Vikings.

The NFL trade deadline is November 10 at 10 p.m. Until then, it remains to be seen whether Indianapolis will actually make Jonathan Taylor or any of the other players mentioned available in a trade.
