The Lions are being cautious in their comments about Jack Campbell. Campbell was injured during the Lions’ win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. In the fourth quarter, the linebacker tackled Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson.

After the play, Campbell remained face down on the field and initially did not move. Medical personnel attended to him. He was then taken off the field on a backboard and transported to a hospital.

The Lions said Campbell remained at a local hospital overnight. On Monday, the team said: “Jack Campbell continues to rest and recover at a local hospital. The preliminary signs are positive. Out of respect for Jack and his family, we will not share any further information at this time.”

More positive news came from Lions head coach Dan Campbell. The coach had visited the linebacker at the hospital on Sunday night and spoken with his family. “Everyone is in good spirits,” Campbell said Monday.

He described the situation as a minor setback and emphasized that Campbell’s recovery is the priority right now. According to the Associated Press, the 26-year-old was responsive and breathing on his own while being transported to the hospital.

Detroit selected Campbell in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Since then, he has started 53 games for the team and been selected to the Pro Bowl once.

Further medical details about his neck injury are not yet available.
