The Packers, Seahawks, Broncos and Vikings are among the teams considering a trade for Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who cited sources. Taylor’s situation could be closely tied to the Colts’ performance on the field.

Indianapolis is currently 2-4 and faces the Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars and Dallas Cowboys next. If the team is no longer in the playoff race after those games, the franchise could begin dealing away assets and building for the future, Schefter and Rapoport reported.

That approach would also affect Jonathan Taylor. The running back is under contract through the 2028 season. His contract alone would not rule out a trade if the Colts decide to rebuild.

Ballard’s firing fuels speculation

The firing of general manager Chris Ballard on Monday added to the uncertainty. Since then, there has been speculation that Indianapolis could trade Taylor and other veteran players before the trade deadline.
